Violin

Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi

Certified violin made c. 1750 by Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi (c. 1710-1784). Landolfi was born in Germany where he lived until he immigrated to Milan, Italy c. 1750.
In Milan he came under the influence of G.B. Guadagnini who had moved there a year prior. Guadagnini is the obvious inspiration for Landolfi's work, whose instruments have more in common with Guadagnini's models than with those of his Milanese predecessors Grancino and Testore.
